History

The Women's Health DPG began in 1994 under the name of the Perinatal Nutrition DPG. In 1999, the name was changed to the Women & Reproductive Nutrition DPG. In 2007, the current name was established to encompass all aspects of women's health and nutrition.

Women's Health members address women's health and nutrition issues relative to the life stages that are unique to women including preconception, prenatal, postpartum, lactation and menopause. Members provide health and nutrition education for healthy women of reproductive age and deliver medical nutrition therapy to women with reproductive or medical complications. Nutrition interventions have the potential to improve the health of women and their children, and reduce both pregnancy complications and lifelong disease risk.
